Best Beaches Near Boston

I am a summer person, I love warm weather, swimming and the beaches. This is a personal list of mine, not being from directly from Boston but an hour out I haven’t been to all the beaches nearby Boston but this is my list of the beaches I’ve been to and enjoyed the most around Boston.

To start off this list of my 4 favorite beaches near Boston I will start with, Constitution Beach, this is a nice beach in a suburb of Boston, Winthrop, right on the coast. This is one of my favorites near Boston because its about a 5 minute drive from Logan Airport and really close to downtown Boston. Also about the beach it has lots of seating space which isn’t always a luxury you have when so close to the city. But the beach also has plenty of free parking, restrooms, and you can watch planes fly right over you as you cool off in the frigid water of the northern atlantic ocean.

Next on this list is Savin Hill Beach, which is accessible off the red line on the T, the Boston public transportation. This beach is nice because its so close to the city which is really nice and it has the energy of the city. Again a lot of space to sit on the beach which is huge to me personally. This beach is cool though too because there’s a lot of cool places nearby to grab some food and also parks and baseball fields nearby for picnics and family fun. Image result for savin hill beach

The next two are a little further out but still within an hours drive of the city. Plum Island one of my New England favorite beaches, located in Newburyport Ma. This beach is amazing, it is always fairly calm, there’s a lot of space on the beach and it’s a long beach as well. The only catch for this great sand filled beach is the parking can be tricky and fill quick but it is definitely worth it. The town of Newburyport is home to tons of great restaurants too so your always close to a great meal when here.

Lastly, my favorite of them all. Good Harbor beach, located in Gloucester Ma. This one is about an hours drive north of Boston, or an hour train ride from Boston. Gloucester is a unique town full of New England charm, there’s plenty of pubs and seafood nearby when at good harbor beach. This beach has surfing when there’s wind but its usually calm, the water is nice here and its a nice open beach though it does fill up with lots of people and get crowded. It is cool here when the tide goes out because you can walk out about 50 yards to Salt Island a tiny island with nothing on it right off the beach it is quite a sight! This beach has all the relaxation and beach needs with the New England charm as a cherry on top.gloucester beaches-aerial.jpg

The New England Aquarium, in Boston

The great city of Boston, is home to the great New England Aquarium. An amazing tourist attraction with all types of marine life offered to those who want to see up close in person. They have everything from sharks, to penguins, and stingrays and colorful tropical fish.

This aquarium has been open for over 45 years, and is known for their diversity of wildlife and research towards protecting marine life. It is right on the water in the north end of Boston in a lovely area near plenty of great restaurants and shops in walking distance.

The aquarium has some impressive exhibits featuring, epaulette sharks and stingrays that you can gently reach your hands in and touch. Or you can enjoy the reef and views of the 200,000 gallon tank. There’s even a seal exhibit, and a separate penguin exhibit as well.  This aquarium is even home to some species of octopus.

This is an image of the impressive 200,000 gallon ocean tank exhibit home to tons of different species of wildlife. If your ever in Boston I definitely recommend adding this aquarium to your to do ,its a must see sight in my opinion. With a great souvenir shop as well to add sentimental value for travelers from afar. It really is a unique aquarium a true sight to see, a great atmosphere and place to be when in Boston.

Boston’s Bars North End

Some of the things travelers love to do when finding a new place to go and see is experiencing the city and culture through it’s food and drinks, here in Boston we have plenty of amazing bars to experience the night life and the taste of Boston. Personally the north end of Boston is home to some of my favorite restaurants and bars because of the delicious food and drinks and atmosphere.

Here is a list of some I like and enjoy and are a great taste of the city. To start off a great bar where you can grab a great burger with your beer is Ward 8.  Known for good seafood and a great atmosphere with awesome employees. Another good place to stop to grab a drink and some food in Boston’s North end is the Boston Sail Loft, they have great calamari all around good food and seafood and has great prices for all the food and good variety of beers as well. Lastly, one of my favorites is Durty Nelly’s, a great pub with awesome prices in a great location with an insane variety of beers and also has great bar food. There’s plenty of places to go in every city these are just some of my favorites, that pertain to my tastes and interests this may not be true to you, though if you are a lover of bar food and seafood and love an uptempo atmosphere I think you will enjoy these recommendations just fine.

Boston Parks

Boston has some amazing parks, great for spending a Sunday or having a picnic. Not only does the city have plenty of great unique parks, but they all have different things to offer in different parts of the city. I will start by talking about some smaller well known parks, as I will not be mentioning every single park in Boston some of the favorites and more well known to my knowledge.  The first park I’d like to make note of is the Paul Revere Park, which has a nice grass and walking area and great views of the Leonard P. Zakim Bunker Hill Bridge.

The Franklin Square is another notable park, known for its trees, open grass area, walking and benches and a fountain. The Boston Public garden is another great spot for both the winter and the summer. This is a great park for a picnic with a lovely garden and statues featuring a pond as well. In the winter people even skate on the pond making it a fun activity in the winter too with some hot cocoa you can buy nearby. Lastly, and probably the most well known and also my favorite Boston Commons. Boston common is another cool one like the last because you can spend a good day there in both the winter, fall, spring, and summer and have a good time. Being right by Beacon Hill and the North and West end not far by there’s plenty to do near this park.  There’s plenty statues rich of Boston history and space to walk around this park it is also one of the larger parks. Not only that but there is grass to throw a frisbee or have a picnic. In the winter there’s a pond and they have a rink there as well and people skate. There’s always hot cocoa close by because of the cool winter air but that doesn’t stop people from getting out there.

These are some of my favorite and more notable parks in Boston, though there are more those are the ones I enjoy when in Boston. There is always plenty to do at them and nearby all of those ones as well.
